Hi, my name is XTCfan, and I am a blogoholic. Well, that is, when I'm not working really hard at my day job as a corporate-communications hack, and I've been doing that a lot lately. And of course I spend time with my family, and have a lot of obligations helping to raise kids, run a household, and all that. When I'm not working on or playing with those things, I occasionally pick up freelance writing jobs centering around music journalism.

I used to want to be a Rock Star. I grew up playing piano, and then played keyboards and sang lead in my first band, in high school (what an apt name for that time in my life), but my brother made the mistake of leaving his drums home one summer when I was 18, and that was it for me. They're my primary instrument now, along with my voice, though I still sometimes play mediocre keyboards and downright-bad guitar and bass. Neddie and I occasionally play in the same musical unit.

I'm particularly drawn to the compact beauty of the Pop song (which IMO no band does better than XTC), but otherwise there are few genres that I don't like. What's important to me is that the music is intelligent and has some passion. As the philosopher said, "The more you love music, the more music you love."
